ESL
Currently, IAS provides English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction for students in grades one-twelve whose primary language is not English. The ultimate goal of the program is to enable all students to become proficient enough that they may perform satisfactorily within the regular classroom setting. In order to protect all students in all grades, beginning January 2023, IAS began requiring students in grades seven and eight to obtain a B1 proficiency level in English while students attempting entrance into grade nine or above must obtain a B2 English language level of proficiency. This assures that students will be among their peers, not those who are significantly younger.
