In second grade at IAS, students learn respect for themselves and others. They journey through Bible Truths, with a focus on character traits they can display in their daily lives. Students further develop proper handwriting and explore aspects of English Language Arts (vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and phonics). They acquire social studies skills such as citizenship and economic awareness. Students practice many math strategies that aid in addition/subtraction with 3-digit numbers, place value to 1,000, and telling time within 5 minutes. 2nd graders investigate the God-made world around us through earth, space, physical, and life sciences. Students enjoy a wide variety of teaching methods such as videos, projects, and books, with a heavy focus on conversational-based learning.
